Important Dates and Information
The first General District-Wide Special Education Parents meeting of the Department of Specialized Learning and Student Services will take place on Monday, September 25, 2017 from 8:00-9:00p in the Brien McMahon High Schools Central Global Studies Community Room. Please meet Yvette Goorevitch, newly appointed Chief of Specialized Learning and Student Services who will outline the department’s strategic plans for 2017-2018. The schedule of monthly workshops will be forthcoming.

La primera Reunión General de Padres de Educación Especial de todo el Distrito del Departamento de Servicios de Estudiantiles y Aprendizaje Especializado se llevará a cabo el lunes, 25 de septiembre del 2017 de 8:00 - 9:00 pm en la Sala de la Comunidad Central del Centro de Estudios Global de la Escuela Superior Brien McMahon. Le invitamos a conocer a Yvette Goorevitch, recién nombrada como Jefa de Servicios Estudiantiles y Aprendizaje Especializado, que explicará los planes estratégicos del departamento para el año 2017-18. El horario de los talleres que se ofrecerán mensualmente se le enviara luego.

Welcome to the Specialized Learning and Student Services Department.

The Specialized Learning and Student Services Department oversees Special Education and related services in Norwalk. Special Education services are delivered to students with special needs from ages 3-21 in the least restrictive environment and in accordance with Federal and State laws.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The Specialized Learning and Student Services Department of the Norwalk Public Schools recognizes that parents/guardians are integral participants in the development of their child's educational programming. It is important that the schools and parents work together in order for all of our students to benefit from their school experience.


The referral of your child to determine the need for Special Education instruction and related services may be a new experience that poses many questions for you.
