superintendent's Message: Dr. Alexandra Estrella

Dr. Estrella

September 7, 2020

Dear NPS Students and Families,

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! We look forward to having our students back to school, both in-person and remotely. The new normal for learning looks different than in the past, but the foundation of what makes NPS a special place remains true, even in this time of uncertainty. Together, we are ready to bring the true joy of learning to all Norwalk Public School students. While the health and emotional wellbeing of our school community is our number one concern, we are also committed to continuing to provide the tools and lessons our children need to become independent learners. Norwalk students have a bright future in front of them.

Throughout the summer, our dedicated staff has been working their way through complex planning to make sure that NPS students have a safe and successful return to school. There will be challenges and maybe even some road blocks.  We will face any hurdles with flexibility and informed decision making, guided at all times by facts and data. I am confident that we are well prepared for your children.

In the most challenging of times, we have seen first-hand the exceptional resiliency of NPS students, parents, teachers, staff, and administration. With this new school year, our students have unique opportunity to solve real-world problems, face challenges with confidence and thrive as they fine tune their ability to adapt and grow through rigorous instruction. Students, staff and families will also have opportunities this year to participate in our comprehensive initiative to examine and address educational equity in Norwalk. We look forward to an exciting year, full of success.

Once again, welcome back!  We are ready and eager to get started.

Sincerely,

Dr. Alexandra Estrella
