Teachers at anti-bias training

As part of today’s Professional Learning sessions to get ready for the start of school, teachers and paraeducators across the district took part in Anti-Bias and Cultural Competency Training.

Coordinated by facilitators from CONECT, Congregations Organized for a New Connecticut, six sessions were offered:  Anti-Bias 101, Immigrant Experiences, Youth of Color Experiences, Sikh Experiences, Muslim Experiences and Jewish Experiences.

Teachers and paras at all grade levels took three out of the six sessions today and will complete the other three in November.

Our thanks to the CONECT moderators as well as the trainers from the following organizations: Anti-Defamation League, Building One Community, National Conference for Community and Justice, Temple Shalom, Congregation Beth El, Bridgeport Islamic Community Center, Sikh Coalition and Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji Foundation.
