On Saturday, April 7th, the Kevin M. Eidt Memorial Scholarship Fund, (Kevin’s Fund), held its 19th annual scholarship presentation and benefit dinner dance at The Shore and Country Club in Norwalk.

Gregory Calnon, chair of the Fund’s Scholarship Selection Committee, and first recipient of this scholarship in 1997, introduced Katerina Karaiskos as the 2018 recipient of the Kevin M. Eidt Memorial Scholarship. Since Kevin’s passing, 22 Norwalk High School recipients have received the Kevin M. Eidt Memorial Scholarship.

The $100,000 scholarship was presented to Katerina, being judged the most outstanding senior in the Norwalk High School Class of 2018 in recognition of her outstanding dedication and achievements across the spectrum of academics, athletics, arts, and community and religious service, all areas in which Kevin participated and excelled.

Katerina was selected from a pool of applicants meeting the following criteria:

To be eligible for the scholarship an applicant must be:

  • Resident of Norwalk, CT.
  • U.S. citizen, or by time of submission of the final application, will be a U.S. citizen.

In November, six applicants from this pool were invited to submit a final application in February, requiring letters of recommendation in support of their academic, athletic, arts, and community and religious service accomplishments. From this pool, four finalists were invited to an interview with the Scholarship Selection Committee. The recipient was selected based on how their application, recommendations, and interview most reminded the Selection Committee of Kevin.
