Testing & Accountability
A review of district and school 2024 Next Generation Accountability results is underway at the district and school level. This reporting is required by every state under the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). District and schools earn points for 12 indicators. Some indicators are measures of achievement, growth, chronic absenteeism, graduation rates, access to college and career ready (CCR) courses and achievement on CCR exams, such as SAT, ACT, IB and Dual Credit Courses. Points are earned for each indicator. The accountability index (AI) is the percentage of total possible points earned for all indicators. In 2023 Norwalk's accountability index was 69.3%. It increased to 70.8% in 2024.
