A Message from the Norwalk Board of Education: Superintendent Search Underway
NPS Communications

A message on behalf of Norwalk BOE Chair Howard White

Dear NPS Community,

As Chair of the Norwalk Board of Education, I am pleased to share that the search for our next superintendent is officially underway. On behalf of the Board, I invite you to participate in this important process.

The Norwalk Board of Education has chosen Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates (HYA), a nationally recognized search firm that will guide us through this important process. In the coming weeks, we'll begin working together to develop a timeline and opportunities for community engagement.

HYA will begin engaging with the NPS community in August, with opportunities for feedback such as surveys, focus groups and public forums to follow. These conversations will help shape the leadership profile for our next superintendent and ensure we understand what our students, families, staff and community members want to see most in the person who will lead our district.

The Board strongly encourages you to participate in the process. Whether you've been involved in our schools for years or are just beginning your family's journey with Norwalk Public Schools, your perspective matters. The best decisions are made when we listen to one another, and we want this search to reflect the diverse voices of the community that we serve.

The Board of Education is committed to conducting a transparent and inclusive search that reflects the priorities and aspirations of the Norwalk community. Selecting our next superintendent is among the Board's most important responsibilities, and community input will play an important role in helping us identify the leader who will best serve our students and district.

While we are eager to find the right leader, we are not in a rush to complete this search. This is one of the most important decisions the Board will make, and it deserves to be conducted thoughtfully, carefully, diligently and with the voice of our NPS community firmly in mind. We have every confidence in Interim Superintendent Sandra Faioes and are excited to see her lead our district throughout the 2026-27 school year while we take the time necessary to identify the best person to serve our students, staff and community for years to come.

We'll continue to share updates as the search moves forward, and I hope you'll take the time to participate when those opportunities arise.

Thank you for your support.

Howard White
