Connecticut Operation Lifesaver - Railroad Safety
The Connecticut Department of Transportation and MTA Metro-North Railroad have expressed concerns about individuals crossing train tracks while walking to and from Roton Middle School and Brien McMahon High School. A reminder that walking on or beside ANY railroad tracks is ILLEGAL, and the only safe place to cross tracks is at designated public crossings with a crossbuck, flashing red lights or a gate.
Operation Lifesaver is the national non-profit rail safety education program dedicated to reducing tragic train incidents where persons are killed or injured while walking on railroad tracks or not obeying the signals crossings. See below for more resources to help you and your family stay safe around railroads.
