June '24 Message from the Superintendent
Dear NPS Community,
Congratulations on another exceptional year for Norwalk Public Schools!
We finish this school year on a high note, celebrating the high school graduation of nearly 1,000 NPS scholars. It’s always a privilege to watch our graduates walk across the stage to accept their diplomas, tossing their caps in the air in triumph, and rejoicing with their friends, teachers, principals and families. It is the culmination of hard work, perseverance and determination that has prepared them to step confidently into the next phase of their lives.
I am confident that all our graduates are well-prepared to face the future, equipped with the knowledge and values nurtured in Norwalk to become civically responsible, globally engaged, and positive contributors to our ever-changing and diverse world.
It’s not only our seniors closing out a significant chapter in their lives. We have kindergarteners celebrating their first full year of school, fifth graders and eighth graders preparing to move up and out to new schools, and everyone in between who completed another successful year of school.
I implore our scholars to keep learning throughout the summer whether it’s visiting historical landmarks, trips to the aquarium or improving interpersonal skills through camps or sports. Building knowledge doesn’t always have to happen in a classroom.
While our scholars succeed in the classroom, Norwalk Public Schools also reached significant milestones across the district, from enhancing our academic curriculum to improving our facilities for scholars and staff. We provided our scholars with greater direction for their futures and expanded our use of digital technologies in the classroom, embracing AI and strengthening our partnership with Verizon. We are excited to continue these initiatives next year.
None of these milestones could be achieved without the unwavering dedication, hard work and passion of our teachers and staff. Our accomplishments this year are a direct result of their commitment to providing an excellent and equitable education for all scholars. Every day, our staff goes above and beyond to create a supportive and inclusive environment where every student can thrive.
My heartfelt thanks to our families and community who continue to support us in our mission to prepare scholars to be future ready. It takes a village to ensure each of our scholars come to school each and every day prepared to learn and ready to face the challenges ahead. Their success is your success.
Please enjoy a wonderful, safe and happy summer! I hope you can spend this time to relax, recharge and reconnect with friends and family. Good luck to our graduates next year, and we look forward to seeing the rest of you back in August.
Yours in Partnership,
Dr. Alexandra Estrella
