MBK & MSK Tour Boston's Educational Institutes and Historical Landmarks
On Friday, May 2, the mentors and scholars of My Brother's Keeper and My Sister's Keeper participated in a daylong educational trip to Boston, MA designed to enrich academic learning through cultural exposure, college exploration, and historical insight.
The day began with a self-guided tour of Northeastern University, where students explored the campus. This visit provided valuable exposure to college life and inspired thoughtful questions about academic pathways and future planning.
Next, the group visited the Museum of African American History, where students gained a deeper understanding of Boston’s rich legacy in the fight for civil rights and equality, including standing in the sanctuary where Frederick Douglass spoke. Through historical exhibits, artifacts, and storytelling, students reflected on the resilience and contributions of African Americans in shaping both the city and the nation.
Following the museum, students boarded the iconic Boston Duck Boats for an engaging land-and-water tour of the city. The ride offered a fun and interactive way to connect Boston’s historical landmarks with what students had learned throughout the day.

Overall, the trip offered a meaningful balance of college and career readiness, cultural learning, and civic awareness, while giving students a memorable experience in one of the nation's most historic cities.
