MSK & MBK Celebrate 'Royal Affair' Awards Banquet

To close out the school year, members of My Sister’s Keeper and My Brother’s Keeper came together for A Royal Affair—a powerful and uplifting awards banquet celebrating mentorship, community, and student achievement.
With mentors, families, and peers in attendance, scholars were recognized not only for their academic growth, but also for the strength of their character and commitment to one another. The event embodied the spirit of being “your sister’s and brother’s keeper,” with students encouraging and empowering one another to strive for excellence.
Two outstanding student leaders also took the stage to inspire their peers. Surayyah Brown, a junior at P-TECH Norwalk, received the Sisterhood Scholar Award, and Marvenson Roc, a senior at Brien McMahon High School, was honored with the Distinguished Gentleman Award. Both delivered powerful messages reflecting on their journeys and the impact of the program in shaping their growth and leadership.
A heartfelt congratulations goes to the seniors who have been part of the program for the past three years. Your dedication has helped build a thriving, supportive space where young people of color are uplifted and inspired to reach their full potential.
Special thanks to program leaders Qadir Abdus-Salaam and LaShante James for their outstanding leadership, and to all of the mentors whose daily support makes a lasting impact in the lives of our scholars. Join us in celebrating the remarkable achievements of these students.
