Norwalk Public Schools Returns to Meal Applications for SY 2026-27
Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, Norwalk Public Schools will no longer participate in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), the federal program that allowed all students to receive free breakfast and lunch regardless of household income. As a result, the district will return to the traditional Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application process to determine eligibility for free or reduced-price lunches.
The good news is that all students will continue to receive breakfast at no cost thanks to Connecticut's new Free Breakfast for All program. Every student, regardless of household income, will be eligible for a free breakfast each school day.
To determine eligibility for free or reduced-price lunch, please note the following:
- Families who qualify through Direct Certification or another approved eligibility method will receive a meal benefit determination letter by email from Jill Kress, the Determining Official, in mid- to late August. If you receive this letter, you do not need to complete a Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application because your student's meal benefits have already been established.
- Families who do not receive a determination letter should complete a 2026–2027 Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application as soon as it becomes available.
The quickest and easiest way to apply is online at www.myschoolapps.com (starting on Aug. 14), and paper applications will also be available through the NPS Food Services website for download (later in August).
Submitting a Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application is important not only to determine eligibility for free or reduced-price lunches, but also because it may qualify your family for other educational programs and benefits.
We encourage all eligible families to complete an application as soon as possible so meal benefits are in place at the start of the school year.
