November '25 Message from the Superintendent - Happy Thanksgiving!

November '25 Message from the Superintendent - Happy Thanksgiving!
Dr. Alexandra Estrella

Dear NPS Community,

As we head into the Thanksgiving Break, I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation for all you do to support our scholars and help us provide them with the highest-quality education possible. We remain deeply committed to the promise of public education, ensuring every student has opportunities to explore their interests, pursue their passions, and learn at the highest levels.

That commitment will never waiver. We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure our scholars have every tool they need to thrive, stay competitive, and live healthy, fulfilling lives.

Your engagement shows how much you share in this commitment. Many of you participated in our recent survey to inform the development of the FY 2026–27 Operating & Capital Budgets, and joined us at the Town Hall on November 19. We are grateful for your feedback. Your voices are helping us elevate what truly matters—protecting access to music and the arts, athletics, and essential mental health supports—so our scholars benefit from a fully rounded, enriching education.

As we move further into the budget process, please know that your input continues to guide us, and we welcome your perspectives at every step.

This fall, our community also came together in powerful ways to support families facing food insecurity. Through partnerships with Norwalk Mutual Aid and Blessings of Hope, along with generous support from sponsors such as Wegmans Norwalk, ShopRite of Norwalk, and the Human Services Council, we have been able to provide meals and groceries to hundreds of families. I am deeply grateful to our staff and volunteers who worked tirelessly during distribution events. Your compassion is a reminder of what makes NPS extraordinary, and I hope we can continue offering even more opportunities like this in the months ahead.

I also want to extend my sincere appreciation to our Board of Education for their steadfast dedication to our scholars. I look forward to continuing our work with both our current board members and those preparing to begin their service. The recent participation of our newly elected board members in meetings and the Town Hall underscores their commitment to learning, listening, and leading.

I am proud to congratulate the Board on receiving the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education (CABE) Board Leadership Level II Award with Distinction. This recognition reflects the Board’s tireless efforts to ensure NPS remains focused on what matters most: putting our scholars first.

I wish each of you a Thanksgiving filled with happiness, rest, and time shared with loved ones. Enjoy your favorite holiday traditions, and take these days to recharge and reconnect. Please know that each of you will be among the people I give thanks for as my family and I reflect on what we are most grateful for this year.

Yours in Partnership,

Dr. Alexandra Estrella
