The Future Ready program celebrated its largest graduating class to date at its third annual Winter Graduation on Feb. 3.

Norwalk Public Schools honored 22 graduates from Brien McMahon High School, Norwalk High School, and P-TECH Norwalk during a ceremony held at the program’s site at 46 Concord St. Surrounded by family, friends, and Future Ready teachers and staff, students proudly received their high school diplomas.

Graduates Emely Hernandez, Jazmin Rivera, and Hailin Mauricio Munguia Nunez shared powerful reflections on their journeys to graduation, inspiring everyone in attendance.

Future Ready supports students who have faced personal and academic challenges by offering flexible scheduling and individualized learning plans to accommodate work, family responsibilities, and language needs.

“Graduates, your success is not an accident,” said Superintendent Dr. Alexandra Estrella. “Because of your grit, steady effort, creativity, and passion for learning, you made this moment possible.”

Additional remarks were shared by Norwalk City Council President Josh Goldstein on behalf of Mayor Barbara Smyth, CT Senate Majority Leader Bob Duff, Board of Education Chair Howard White, and Heidi Pierovich, Director of the Future Ready Programs. They were joined by high school principals Barbara Wood from Brien McMahon High School and Dr. Lynne Moore from Norwalk High School as well as Sara Zawoiski, representing P-TECH Norwalk on behalf of Principal Beth Furnari.
