NPS Celebrates Pareducator Appreciation Week 2025
The Norwalk Board of Education is proud to recognize the first week of April as Paraeducator Appreciation Week, a time to honor the dedicated paraeducators who make a lasting impact on the lives of our students each and every day.
Paraeducators are essential members of our school communities. They provide critical support in classrooms, assist in the delivery of instruction, and build meaningful relationships with students that help foster academic success and emotional well-being.
They are particularly vital in supporting students with disabilities and those facing learning challenges, often working in close collaboration with special education teachers to ensure all children receive the support they need to succeed.
The profession of paraeducation has evolved significantly. Once viewed narrowly as assistant roles, paraeducators are now recognized as skilled professionals with valuable expertise. In Connecticut, paraeducators complete extensive training to prepare for their roles, gaining the knowledge and tools required to provide direct student services in dynamic educational settings.
From supporting individual learning plans to helping manage classrooms and extracurricular programs, paraeducators are the heartbeat of our schools. Their work is essential to student achievement and critical to creating inclusive and engaging learning environments across our district.
Norwalk Public Schools is committed to educational excellence and equity, and we recognize that this mission is only possible through the partnership and dedication of our paraeducators. We are proud that the profession is gaining long-overdue respect, and we are deeply grateful for the impact these professionals make every day.
The Norwalk Board of Education wishes to thank all our paraeducators for your compassion, your perseverance, and your tireless support of Norwalk students.
