Norwalk Public Schools has named Gabrielle Parker as the new director of Human Resources, promoting her from the interim position that she has held since February 2023.

Settling into the position of HR director permanently, Parker will continue to set the tone and HR systems to provide a welcoming, ethical, diverse and inclusive, supportive, engaging and high-performance workplace with an established network of trust-based, positive work relationships through the organization with stakeholders and union representatives.

“During her tenure with Norwalk Public Schools, Parker has earned the respect and trust of her colleagues and has worked extremely hard to best support and serve all employees in the district. I have full-faith she will continue to provide a welcoming work environment for all our employees that will help them best serve and educate our students,” said Dr. Alexandra Estrella, Superintendent of Norwalk Public Schools.

As the HR director, Parker is responsible for delivering strategic and operational advisory excellence to administrators and employees. She’ll also handle the execution of a comprehensive Human Resources strategy to support the achievement of the Norwalk Public Schools Strategic Operating Plan in order to advance the district’s mission, vision and design while continuing to develop and monitor its desired culture and talent through effective systems, policies, processes and practices.

Before being appointed as interim director, Parker served as the Organizational Development and Employee Relations Specialist. In that role, she oversaw the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources team and worked collaboratively with other stakeholders to help support the district.

Parker started with Norwalk Public Schools in an entry-level position and quickly rose through the ranks during her tenure with the district. She previously served as an HR Administrator with the Diocese of Bridgeport and started her career in education with Hingham Public Schools in Hingham, Massachusetts.

Parker earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Undergraduate Law from Suffolk University in Boston.
