Solar Eclipse 2024 - Important Information for April 8

A partial solar eclipse will take place on Monday, April 8. The event will begin at around 2:11 p.m. with the height of the occurrence taking place at 3:26 p.m. 

While light levels will be similar to dusk/pre-sunset and individuals will be able to see their surroundings, the eclipse can cause severe eye injury if proper measures are not taken. It is never safe to look directly at the Sun without specialized eye protection for solar viewing. To ensure the safety of our children, school staff will provide students in grades K-9 with protective solar glasses. Depending on grade level, schedules and standard dismissal times, some schools may facilitate viewing experiences for students.

Note: High school viewing opportunities will take place after school dismissal for those who are interested in attending.
