United Way of Coastal & Western Connecticut Donates 100 Backpacks Stuffed with School Supplies to Norwalk Public Schools

Norwalk Public Schools thanks United Way of Coastal & Western Connecticut for their gracious donation of 100 backpacks stuffed with school supplies that will be provided to NPS students.

United Way dropped off the backpacks on Sept. 13, 2023 at the NPS Family Center. Students from the Norwalk Next Steps program helped to unload the backpacks and store them inside the Family Center where they will be distributed to students across the district when a need is identified.

“Norwalk Next Steps was proud to partner with United Way and the Family Center in order to receive and distribute these much-needed school supplies to the Students of Norwalk.

“We look forward to future partnership opportunities with United Way,” said Veronica Lenzen, Specialized Education Administrator for High Schools and 18-22 Programming.

United Way of Coastal & Western Connecticut collected enough school supplies this year from dozens of businesses and community individuals across four cities to fill over 600 backpacks that will meet the needs of students and families in Norwalk and across Fairfield and Southern Litchfield counties.

“United Way of Coastal & Western CT supports children in our communities to succeed in school and prepare for careers. What better way to help than by mobilizing our corporate partners and volunteers in school supply drives?” said Faith Douglass, Director of Resource Development for United Way of Coastal & Western CT. “We do our best to join with over 250 community partners and volunteers to meet the needs of students and families in Norwalk and across Fairfield & Southern Litchfield Counties.”
