West Rocks' Nicole Jean Named the 2024 NPS Teacher of the Year
Nicole Jean, the band director of West Rocks Middle School, was named the 2024 NPS Teacher of the Year.
Jean was honored at the 2024 Teachers’ Convocation on Wednesday, Aug. 21 at Brien McMahon High School. West Rocks’ Principal Dr. Adam Reynolds introduced Jean, who also represented the middle school as its 2024 Excellence in Education recipient.
“As the dedicated band teacher at West Rocks, Ms. Jean’s passion for music and unwavering commitment to her students have left an indelible mark on our community. Ms. Jean’s teaching style is a perfect blend of expertise, enthusiasm, and encouragement,” Reynolds said.
Reynolds highlighted not only the impact she has on students’ musical skills, but the way she fosters a love for music that resonates with her students. In her speech at Convocation, Jean paid tribute to the many mentors in her own life who instilled that passion for music and inspired her to pursue a career in music education.
In addition to her position as the band director, Jean serves a vital role on West Rocks’ equity team, contributing to the overall cultural awareness of the school community. She also actively engages with parents, creating a collaborative and supportive community that recognizes the value of music education.
Norwalk Public Schools wishes Nicole Jean the best of luck as she is considered for the 2025 Connecticut Teacher of the Year honor.
