Who's Gonna Stop Us? My Sister's Keeper Teams Up with Connecticut Sun Foundation

To celebrate Women’s History Month, My Sister’s Keeper (MSK) recently partnered with the Connecticut Sun Foundation for a workshop series called Who’s Gonna Stop Us: Persevering Beyond the Glass Ceiling.

The My Sister’s Keeper group traveled to Mohegan Sun on Friday, March 28 to meet with leaders of the CT Sun Foundation and to hear from Marilynn Malerba, Chief of the Mohegan Tribe.

The girls also heard from a panel of women with the CT Sun Foundation who shared with the group some of their own experiences, recalling from their time in middle school as growing young women with some struggles of being underestimated and overwhelmed. Plus, they shared some advice on how to deal with it all.

The MSK members were able to ask their burning questions to any of the panel members, then headed off to breakout groups. Each group discussed the need for confidence, community, advocacy and resilience, and demonstrated what that might look like. 

The CT Sun Foundation leaders then closed with some inspiring words of advice and encouragement for the My Sister’s Keeper members. The girls left the event with some amazing swag bags!
