March '24 Message from the Superintendent
Dear NPS Community,
Spring is in the air! As the days grow longer and the weather gets warmer, I hope you can all step outside and enjoy this beautiful time of year.
March brings with it not only the promise of blooming flowers and lengthening days but also the celebration of Women’s History Month. It is a time for us to reflect on the remarkable achievements of women throughout history, as well as honor the invaluable contributions of women in our own community.
In Norwalk, we are fortunate to have a wealth of female leaders who contribute tirelessly to our community. The dedication and passion of our female educators, administrators and staff are evident in every aspect of our schools, shaping the next generation of leaders and making a lasting impact on our world.
It’s not only these women who inspire me but also the incredible students in our district who are already leaving their mark on the world. Their ambition, creativity, and resilience serve as a reminder of the boundless potential that exists within each of us.
I am particularly proud to highlight the accomplishments of Roshni Yousuf, a senior at Brien McMahon High School. Roshni's advocacy for gender equality and inclusivity is truly commendable. She not only approached the Board of Education for policies around gender non-conforming and transgender students, but she also testified in front of the CT General Assembly to require all restrooms offer free feminine products.
Her dedication to making a positive impact in our community is an inspiration to us all. Congratulations to Roshni and to everyone involved in the Center for Youth Leadership for the difference you’re making everyday.
As we embrace the spirit of Women’s History Month, let us also remain focused on the importance of education and academic achievement. With only a few months left in the school year, I encourage all students to remain committed to their studies and strive for excellence in everything they do.
I also want to express my sincere gratitude to our families for their unwavering support. Your encouragement and dedication to seeing every student succeed are truly commendable and make a significant difference in our school community.
I understand that the month of March can be challenging with limited breaks, but I want to reassure you that we are all in this together. Your perseverance and dedication do not go unnoticed, and I am confident that together, we will finish the school year strong.
Yours in partnership,
Dr. Alexandra Estrella
