NPS Statement on Immigrant Community
At Norwalk Public Schools, we are proud to celebrate the rich diversity that defines our “village” and our nation. Immigrant students and their families are a cornerstone of our shared identity, contributing to the vibrancy of our schools and the strength of our society.
The diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences that immigrant students bring to our classrooms enrich the education of every child. These differences foster creativity, inspire innovation, and deepen our understanding of one another. At Norwalk Public Schools, we believe that our differences are not just a part of who we are—they are our greatest strength.
We are committed to providing a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students, regardless of their background. Together, we will continue to build a brighter future where every child has the opportunity to succeed and thrive.
I encourage you to attend the city’s "Know Your Rights" community meeting at City Hall on December 18th from 6-7:30 PM. This event is in collaboration with CT Attorney General William Tong and immigration advocacy groups.
I look forward to participating in this discussion alongside the Attorney General, Mayor Harry Rilling, Police Chief James Walsh, and Lamond Daniels, Chief of Community Services for the City of Norwalk.
