Dear P-TECH and Norwalk High Families,

In accordance with our health protocols, notifications have been completed to students or staff who may have been in close contact with individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19. With that process now finalized, we wanted to clarify two things:

  • The entire P-TECH Norwalk school has switched to virtual learning because of the number of teachers who have been directed to self-quarantine. This does not mean that the entire school had been in close contact, but it reflects the challenges of providing multiple substitute teachers.
  • Contact tracing protocols mean that we identify anyone who has been in close contact for an extended period of time and direct them to self quarantine. A confirmed COVID-19 case in a school building does not require that the entire building close.  NPS already has extensive cleaning and sanitizing practices in place, and we will devote additional cleaning resources to a building as needed.

We know that the threat from COVID-19 will remain part of our lives for some time to come. Until this public health issue has been resolved for all, we will continue to carefully move forward to provide the best learning environment possible, while keeping the health and safety of our students and staff in mind.

Thank you for your flexibility and understanding.
